Summerville man indicted in investment fraud scheme | Crime
SUMMERVILLE (WCSC) - A former insurance agent was indicted Wednesday by a federal court jury in Charleston for operating an investment fraud scheme and other tax crimes.
Timothy David Mays, 48, was charged in an indictment with 28-counts of wire fraud, 4-counts of mail fraud, 1-count of willfully filing a false income tax return, and 3-counts of willfully failing to file an income tax return.
According to a release, the Summerville resident faces a maximum of 20-years for each count of wire and mail fraud, and a maximum of 10-years for the additional charges if proven guilty.
This case was investigated by the FBI and IRS-Criminal Investigation.
